Juanita Ann Salerno, passed away peacefully at her home in Lockport, at the age of 61, on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, with her loving family by her side.  She was born in Chicago, IL, on February 25, 1961, the daughter of the late Orlando and Joan (nee Miles) Mares.  Juanita grew up in Romeoville, IL, and was a graduate of Romeoville High School with the Class of 1979, where she was in the band and a member of the Parade Committee.
 
Juanita was the successful co-owner/operator of All Around Amusement and Rob’s All Around General Service and a member of the Showman’s League of America and several others. Juanita was a kind soul who had the ability to work side by side with her husband at the family business, then go home and be a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family.  She was an adventurous woman who also enjoyed curling up with a good book and being creative with ceramics. 
 
Along with the fellowship she offered through her illuminating smile, humorous spirit, and warm hospitality, Juanita had a gentle nature, humble demeanor, strong work ethic, and generous heart.  She gave to numerous charities throughout her adult life and founded a Scholarship program for kids with special needs.
 
Above everything that she did, she cherished the time she spent with her family more than anything.  Juanita will be remembered fondly for her strength, perseverance, beauty, and grace. 
 
Juanita is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Robert Lee Salerno; her son, Robert Lee (Patricia) Salerno, II; daughter, Amanda (Jeremy Wilcher) Salerno; ten grandchildren, Danielle Sahara, Grace Helen, Jacob Derek, Savannah Michelle, Chloe Marie, Kayden Anthony, Jackson Ray, Kaylee Ann, Caitlyn Jane, and Sophia Nicole; and three siblings, Roland Mares, James (Laura) Mares, and Lucia Mares. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to ALS Association, Greater Chicago Chapter, 5315 N. Clark St, #650, Chicago, IL 60640 would be appreciated.
 
Visitation for Juanita Ann Salerno will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m.  As it was her request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
