Obituary of Deborah Ann Blum

Deborah Ann Blum

(nee Menozi)

Deborah Ann Blum, of Elwood, passed away at the age of 63, on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Silver Cross Hospital. Deborah was born in Joliet, on December 30, 1958, the daughter of the late Donald and Joan (nee Petersen) Menozi. She was a graduate of Joliet East High School, with the Class of 1977, and was a longtime active parishioner of Elwood Presbyterian Church and Parkview Christian Church.  She was a former member of the Elwood School Board.

Debby found a way to make everyone she crossed paths with feel incredibly special.  She was the best listener to her family and friends, offering advice and always seeing the positive side of every situation. She found joy sitting out on the deck listening to nature, absorbing all of God’s majestic beauty. She loved watching her birds, and the occasional deer roaming the backyard.

Debby was the nucleus of her family, rejoicing in those most precious moments she shared with everyone. She always made every holiday and birthday so incredibly special, happy, and so much better than it would have been without her.

Her absolute joys in life were her grandkids.  She adored them with all of her heart and enjoyed making her special love filled “Grandma chocolate chip cookies” with their help. She was an avid gardener, and delighted in tending to all of her beautiful flowers. She was also an avid Blackhawks fan, and loved watching Hawks games with her husband, Bob, on cold winter nights in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine.

Above everything else, Debby was a loving wife who adored her husband.  She dedicated her time to serve God and their beloved Parkview Church volunteering in kids’ ministry. She was a woman of faith who lived by her beliefs in every way she could.

Deborah is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Robert T. Blum; her children, Robert (Rachel) Blum, Jr., Kyle (Lori) Blum, and Lauren (Jaime Satter) Blum; six grandchildren, Aidan, Ava, Ashton, Elijah, Emmett, and Luca Blum; her brother, Vince (Laurie) Menozi; and one sister, Diane (Dave) Menozi.  Nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the Village of Elwood- Children’s Garden Project, 401 E. Mississippi Ave, Elwood, IL 60421.
