Francis H. Heenan
Age 94. Friday, March 11, 2011 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Streator, IL, September 30,1916, he was a lifetime Joliet resident. Employed as a Locomotive Engineer for the E.J. & E. Railroad for 37 years, retiring February 1,1978. Lifetime member of Cantigny Post VFW #367. Former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #300, and the Joliet Elks Lodge #296. Member of the Old Timers Baseball Association, and the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Joliet. A WWII U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Former Scoutmaster of Troop #5, St. John Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Ann (nee Rita) Heenan (Nov. 13,1980); his parents, Simon and Mary (nee Smith) Heenan; and stepson, Stephen Pershey.
Surviving are his wife, Marcella B. (nee Peters) Pershey; beloved father of two daughters, Maryann (Philip) Branshaw of New Lenox and Rita (Jerome) Henry of Joliet; three sons, Patrick (Louise) Heenan of Kankakee, Joseph (Mary) Heenan of Shorewood and John (Elaine) Heenan of Waukesha, WI; stepchildren, Dr. Diane Pershey (Joseph Geldbough) of Oklahoma City, OK, George Pershey of New Lenox, IL, Andrea (Robert) Kupina of Kingston Springs, TN and Christine Pershey of Morris, IL; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Francis H. Heenan will be Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Enshrinement Resurrection Mausoleum. Military honors under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory to the Leukemia Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
