Edmund Valentine Sroczynski
Edmund Valentine Sroczynski passed away peacefully at the age of 85, on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. Edmund was born in Chicago on February 14, 1937, the son of the late Edward and Estelle (nee Nega) Sroczynski. He was a graduate of St. Phillip High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Roosevelt University. Edmund is a proud Veteran of the United States Army where he earned a Good Conduct Medal.
Edmund enjoyed a long career in both personnel and later a second career in fleet car sales. He was a member of the Rotary, the Shorewood Glen Veteran’s Group, and Mended Hearts at St. Joseph Hospital, where he was a former Treasurer. Ed enjoyed family camping trips, reading, and traveling.
Edmund is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marcia May (nee Omiecinski) Sroczynski; one daughter, Vicky (John Burke) Sroczynski; two sons, Christopher (Tammy) Sroczynski and Paul Sroczynski; three grandchildren, Lauren and Joshua Burke, and Stephanie Sroczynski; and one sister, Elizabeth Mohan.
He is preceded by his parents; and his sister-in-law, Arlene Link.
Visitation for Edmund Valentine Sroczynski will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services at 7:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
Inurnment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at 10:30 am, on Friday, December 9, 2022, with full military honors held under the auspices of the United States Army and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Wounded Warrior Project, 230 W. Monroe St., Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60606 or Will County Humane Society, 24109 Seil Rd., Shorewood, IL 60404 would be appreciated.
