Suzanne Streitz

Obituary of Suzanne D. Streitz

Age 91, a lifelong Joliet, Illinois resident passed away unexpectedly, Saturday evening December 3, 2022.  She was born April 25, 1931 to the late Agnes (Crossen) and George Davis.  Suzanne attended Joliet Grade Schools and graduated with honors from Joliet Township High School with the class of 1949.  A ROTC sponsor and member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, she continued her education at Beloit College, earning a bachelor degree in Spanish.

She is the beloved wife of 67 years to Dr. Thomas Streitz,; loving mother of Dr. Daniel (Dr. Stephanie) Streitz, Deborah (Thomas) Matichak, Dana (James) Weston and Deidre (John) Saunders; devoted grandmother of Dr. Daniel (Laura) Streitz, Dr. David (Dr. Kristine) Streitz, Sarah (Jeffrey) Peterson, Taylor (Jim) Bolin, Megan (Vincent) Bolin, Emily (Dan) Bowar, John (Eliza) Weston, Katie, Kari and Kyle Saunders; proud great-grandmother of Harrison, Benjamin, Hudson, Hayden and Harper.  Also surviving are her sister, Sally Schoch and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mary Ann Gale, Joanne Middaugh and Bradley Davis.

Suzanne, a life member of First Presbyterian Church where she was very active over the years, was also a very faithful member of the Holly Club.  Extremely athletic, she was a 35 and over doubles tennis champ and an avid golfer achieving the elusive “hole in one” four times! Two of which were in consecutive days!

Suzanne will long be remembered for her gourmet cooking, entertaining, her passion for life, love of her family and friends and her generous heart. Despite her sudden loss, her family finds peace in knowing she was in very good spirits, getting ready for a family party Saturday evening, when the good Lord called her home.  May she rest in peace.

All friends and relatives are invited to a Memorial Service honoring the life of Suzanne Streitz on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church, 805 Western Avenue Joliet.  Visitation will occur from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins at 11: 00 a.m. at the Church.

As it was Suzanne’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded.  Her final earthly remains will be interred at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL at a later date.
