Vivian McNair

Obituary of Vivian Marie McNair

Vivian Marie McNair, age 88 of Joliet, peacefully passed away to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 11, 2022. She was born on December 16, 1933, in Hominy, Oklahoma. She spent her adult life raising her family in Lockport and later moved to Chicago where she enjoyed a long career working as a legal secretary. Vivian was a strong and beautiful Christian woman who delighted in her daughters and grandchildren, and she was so proud of all of them. To those who knew her well, she was Mimi.  She loved travel and was actively involved in political volunteerism. With a strong passion for the arts and theater, she passed her love of beauty and reading on to her daughters. She volunteered regularly in various fine arts venues as well as in her church.  Though she will be remembered for her generosity, Southern hospitality, delicious cooking, and her deep kindness to those around her, she will above all be remembered for her love for the Lord which she passes on as her greatest legacy.

Vivian is survived by her three daughters, Pam (late John) Rapcan of Lockport, Bev (Kevin) Mahr of Omaha, NE, and Sandy (Doug) Beguin of Channahon; grandchildren, Chris (late Christy) Rapcan, Sean (Stacy) Rapcan, Mandy (Luke) Mahr-Leidal, Steven (Emily) Mahr, and Jennifer (Michael) Ortmeier,  Dan (Jessica) Beguin, Mike Beguin, Jeff Beguin; great-grandchildren, Brooke, Brandi, Chrystal, Jacob, Greta, Margo, Xander, Phoebe, Juniper, Miles, James, Anna and Jude.

She is preceded in death by her parents; four siblings; and her son-in-law, John Rapcan.

The family extends their special appreciation to River Crossing of Joliet and Gentiva Hospice whose staff cared for her so well.
