Claire J. Heitman
(nee Moore)
Age 77. Passed away Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Provena Villa Franciscan in Joliet. Born August 2, 1929 in East St. Louis, IL. She was an educator for the Joliet Grade Schools, District #86 for 28 years, serving as a teacher at Woodland and Jefferson Schools and was Principal at Sheridan, Woodland, Pershing and Farragut Schools. She retired in 1990 from Farragut School. A graduate of the University of Illinois with a Master's degree, she also taught in Rockford and Urbana, IL and Dearborn, MI. Member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities. Member of Delta Delta Delta, life member of the Joliet and National Parent Teacher's Associations, the Joliet Area Retired Teacher's Association and AARP. Served as a volunteer at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. She loved to play bridge, read and travel throughout the world.
Preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Carol (nee Thurston) Moore.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Lori Heitman; and three grandsons, Andrew, Scott and Eric.
Funeral Services for Claire J. Heitman will be today, Friday, June 15, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Rev. Jim Saltzman officiating. Burial will be Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Belleville, IL. Memorials to Grace United Methodist Church Choir would be appreciated. Visitation FRIDAY 5:00 p.m. until time of services at:
