Joseph John Seitz
Joseph John Seitz, of Plainfield, passed away at the age of 90, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at St. Joseph Medical Center, with his daughter by his side. Joseph was born August 22, 1932, in River Edge, NJ, the son of the late John A. and Catherine (Pfaff) Seitz. Joseph grew up in Emerson, NJ, and was a graduate of Westwood High School, Class of 1950. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served for four years, earning a Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a United Nations Service Medal. He retired in 1998 from Perfect Carton Corporation in Chicago after over 40 dedicated years.
Joseph married the love of his life, Gloria Goetzen, on May 25, 1957, at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church. Joe and Gloria resided on the Southwest Side of Chicago and were faithful parishioners of St. Rene Parish. In his free time, he enjoyed doing projects around the house and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Joe will be remembered for having a wonderful sense of humor!
Joseph is survived by his beloved children, Doris (Edmund) Wall, James J. (Julie) Seitz, Joseph M. (Gina) Seitz, and Dianne (late Gary) Taulbee; his sister, Barbara (Seitz) Redden; his grandchildren, Patrick (Lauren) Wall, Danny (Sara) Wall, Jennifer Harding, Tabitha Harding, Ashley (Frank) Golick, Jason (Alex) Seitz, Blake Seitz, Kyle Seitz, Corey (Nikki) Seitz, CJ Seitz, Brittany (John) Gwinn, Valerie (Bryan) Prewitt, and Gary (Kala) Taulbee; and proud great-grandfather of 23. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Joseph is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 63 years, Gloria Anne Seitz; his parents; and his siblings, Rita Cappi, Alfred Seitz, Loretta Quinn, and Marie Hochheim.
Family and friends of Joseph John Seitz are invited to meet on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Holy Family Parish, 600 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Military Honors will be held under the auspices of the United States Air Force.
