Obituary of Robert Allen Walker
Robert Allen Walker, of Morris, passed away at the age of 80, on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in Largo, FL, with his wife and children by his side. Bob was born in Morris, on October 12, 1942, to the late Eddie William and Crystal (Watkins) Walker and was a lifelong Mazon area resident.
Bob graduated with the Class of 1960 from Mazon High School, where he was involved in the FFA, basketball, baseball, and choir. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy where he was stationed at Miramar Naval Base and was on the USS Kitty Hawk Aircraft Carrier. Bob married the love of his life Nerina Muzzarelli on December 30, 1961, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, IL. Bob had a lifelong love for farming; raising cattle and growing corn and beans on the family farm. You could always catch Bob with a big smile or a great laugh. Some of Bob’s hobbies included traveling to all 50 states and going on many cruises. He was a big Georgetown University and March Madness fan and loved rooting for his Chicago sports teams while wintering in Florida. He had a love for music and woodworking that included building birdhouses for his family and friends. Bob enjoyed attending his grandkid's school and sports activities. He was a member of Mazon and Largo, FL American Legion, Elks in Largo, FL, and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Morris and Largo, FL. Above all else, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who loved his family dearly.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Nerina (Muzzarelli) Walker; his children, Kirk (Lisa) Walker of Coal City, Mark (Beth) Walker of Morris, Mathew (Nicole) Walker of Libertyville, and Melissa (Scott) Isham of Mazon; his grandchildren, Trevor, Jordan (Erin), Jacob (Taylor), Jett, Jack, Julia, Jenna, and Erica Walker, Kylie and Alyssa Rodriguez and Michael, Madelyn, and Daniel Isham; brother, Steven Frank Walker; sister-in-law, Darlene Mount Walker Cofoid; niece Kristina Gottlieb, her daughter Sophia and nephews, Michael (Robin)Walker, Kevin (Cynthia)Walker, Craig (Angelina) Strum, Brent (Kristine) Daggett, Ryan Daggett, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceded by his parents; brother, Jerry Walker; sister, Judith Walker Gottlieb; mother-in-law, Marjorie Muzzarelli (John) Houck; father-in-law, Frank Muzzarelli, and sister-in-law, Janet Muzzarelli Daggett.
Visitation for Robert Allen Walker will be held Friday, March 24, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive in Morris. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 E. Jackson Street in Morris. Inurnment will follow in Brookside Cemetery in Mazon, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob’s name can be made to Immaculate Conception Church, the American Heart Association, or any organization supporting Veterans.
