Obituary of John Prieboy
Age 92, Passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Ascension Villa Franciscan, Joliet, IL. Born November 23, 1930 in Joliet. Graduate of Joliet Township High School. Retired from GAF and Silver Cross Hospital, Joliet.
John was a proud US Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Eastside AC, Ravens Club, coached youth baseball at Rivals, and basketball at St. John’s.
Surviving are his loving children: Steve (Candice) Prieboy of Shorewood, Donald (Terry) Prieboy of Joliet, John (Marsha) Prieboy, Jr. of Plainfield, Mark (Kathy) Prieboy of Joliet, Christine (Don) Quigley-Strle of Joliet, and Daniel (Rebecca) Prieboy of Shorewood; loving “Papu” to 18 grandchildren; 23 Great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Art (the late Mary) Prieboy and Raymond (Gloria) Prieboy; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded by his loving wife, Sylvia M. Prieboy; parents, John and Mary Prieboy; daughter, Lori Blish; and sister, Mary “Chi-Chi” Kargle.
Visitation for John “Mibs” Prieboy will be Friday, March 31, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet.
