Obituary of Maureen Hicks

Maureen Ann Hicks (nee O'Connor) Age 62. Entered eternal life on Monday, November 19, 2007 with her family surrounding her, after a courageous battle with cancer. A retired teacher from Ludwig School District #92, she most recently worked at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. She was an active member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Mother's Club; she was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women. She was awarded the St. Raymond Nonnatus Award for extraordinary volunteerism on August 26, 2007. For those who knew Maureen, she was well known for her smile; her pleasant personality would fill the room. She was able to touch us all with her kind words, warmth and love. She will also be remembered for her cards and letters that she would write for any occasion just for a chance to brighten someone's day. This was something she did every day with great joy. Maureen is survived by her husband, George; her three children, Paul, Michael (Holly Caponi) and Lisa; her mother, Ellen June (late Frank, 2002); her sister, Debra (Steve) Brockman; brothers, Dennis, Thomas (Patti), and Terrance O'Connor; one niece, Kimberly Brockman; one nephew, Thomas O'Connor II; one special uncle and godfather, LaVern Morgan; and special aunt, Kay Rademacher. The family would like to express their gratitude to Maureen's many friends, for their compassionate care and support; and especially to Natalie Bayci, for her extraordinary dedication. Preceded in death by her father, Frank O'Connor; uncles and aunts, John and Mary Ellen O'Connor, Jim and Helen O'Connor, godmother Marguerite and Tom Murphy, Joe Rademacher, and Leo and Lorrayne O'Connor.
