Johnie Sue Sterczynski

(nee Adams)

 

Johnie Sue Sterczynski, of Huntley, and formerly of Palos Hills and Carbondale, passed away at the age of 66, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, after a courageous battle with stomach cancer.  Johnie was born in Hinsdale, IL, on August 19, 1956, the daughter of the late John and Barbara (nee Lipe) Adams.  She was a graduate of Argon High School and retired after 22 dedicated years as the lunch lady at Glen Oaks Elementary School, where she was loved by the hundreds of children who had the privilege of her presence.   

 

Johnie had a passion for seeing the world.  She loved to travel with her husband making memories while visiting all 50 states and enjoying more than 60 cruises.  She also enjoyed traveling by bus and train to see the countryside. She was a gentle woman who will be missed by all who loved her.

 

Johnie is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years, John R. Sterczynski; and her only son, Jason (Laura) Sterczynski.

 

She is preceded by her parents; and her sister, Brenda Lee Adams.

 

Visitation for Johnie Sue Sterczynski will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 noon.  Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
