Mark Jeffrey Sorensen
Mark Jeffrey Sorensen, of Canton, GA, passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 58, on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Mark was born in Aurora, IL, on December 9, 1964, the son of Paul and Gisela (nee Sohn) Sorensen. He grew up in LaGrange Park and Frankfort, IL. Mark was a graduate of Lincolnway High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Iowa State University. He’s been living in Canton, Georgia with his family for the last few years. Mark worked with 3M Company as a Packaging Specialist Salesman for more than 30 dedicated years.
Mark loved everything about the game of golf, from the challenge of the sport to the relationships he fostered on the course. He enjoyed the time he spent with his friends and was always willing to help anyone with anything they needed. His smile was as easily given as his friendship and his deep love for his family was evident to all who knew him. Mark was a man of faith and always led by example. He was the epitome of a family man; full of life, love, and a light to everyone around him. He was a devoted husband, the best father, a loving son, and a good brother. There will be a void left in the hearts of all who had the privilege of crossing his path.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Jodi (nee Helmer) Sorensen; two children, Taylor and Trent Sorensen; his parents, Paul and Gisela Sorensen; one brother, Eric (Debi) Sorensen; his dear aunt whom he held a special bond with, Sabine Malloy; his mother-in-law, Rose Helmer; and his sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Fred Yax. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
He is preceded by his father-in-law, Brian Helmer.
Funeral Services for Mark Jeffrey Sorensen will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Fred C. Dame Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be used to support organizations dear to Mark’s heart.
