Myrtis M. Murray, passed away peacefully at the age of 85, on Monday, May 15, 2023, in Tennessee.  Myrtis was born on December 15, 1937, the daughter of the late Ingolf and Florence (nee Coyer) Melby.  Born in Chicago, Myrtis also formerly lived in Oak Lawn, Crestwood, and Minooka, before settling in McEwen, TN with her daughter.

Myrtis was a long-time parishioner at St. Louis de Monfort Parish in Oak Lawn, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Minooka.  She was formerly active with La Leche League and was a seamstress for St. Louis de Monfort Parish.

Myrtis is survived by her children, Ronald (Carrie) Murray, Kathy (Steve) Crocker, John (Kathy) Murray, and Timothy (Laura) Murray; grandchildren, Alyssa, Chad, Katelyn, Michael, Megan, Betsy, Thomas, Bella (Michael), Kimberly, and Gavin; and great-grandchild, Crue. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She is preceded by her parents; and her siblings, William Wright, Dixie Steves, and Edward (Linda) Melby.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Poor Clare Colettine Nuns, Annunciation Monastery, 6200 E. Minooka Rd., Minooka, IL 60447

Family and friends of Myrtis M. Murray are invited to meet at St. Mary’s Church, 303 W. St. Mary’s Street, Minooka, IL, on Friday, May 26, 2023, where she will lie in state from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Minooka.
