Obituary of Robert G. Valerio

Robert G. Valerio, age 77, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Lightways Hospice Care in Joliet.

Bob was born in Morris on December 22, 1945, to Robert (Denny) Valerio and Charlene (Sis) Brooks Valerio. He was educated in Morris schools graduating in 1964. Bob married Lynn Thompson on December 31, 1966, in Heilbronn Germany, where he was stationed in the Army and they resided for the remainder of his recruitment. They traveled extensively while there and made dear and lifelong friends. Bob was hard-working, dependable, had a wicked sense of humor, and always made people laugh. His family was his greatest pride and joy but his love for his old cars came in as a close second.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn, and three children, Derek (Jane) Valerio; Kristin (Paul) Ehrman: and Amanda Valerio Reid; nine grandchildren, Nathan and Stephanie Ehrman, Jacob  Shroba, and Arlene, Gabriel, Caleb, Noah, Aaron, and Robert Valerio.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Valerio who died at the age of 16.

Bob’s wishes were for cremation rites with no formal services. All are welcome for a celebration of his life from 1-4, p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 245 Waverly St. Morris.
