Obituary of Carla L Melland
Age 51, of Joliet, IL passed from this life Monday morning, May 22, 2023 at her home.
She was born November 1, 1971 to Alice and Jerry Nelson in Aurora, IL where she was raised and educated.
She is the beloved wife of 14 years to Glen Melland; loving mom of Nichol Melland and Dennis (Nely) Melland; cherished daughter of Alice and Jerry Nelson; dear sister of Cheryl Jungels, Craig (Cora) Nelson and Eric Nelson; fond daughter-in-law of Beverly Melland and sister-in-law of Christie Savoy. She will also be missed by her faithful canine companions, Dexter, Niko, Tilly and Rhonda as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carla was employed at Sound Investment Group where she enjoyed many years with her co-workers assisting numerous clients to achieve their financial goals.
Carla was an amazing artist who was also humble about her talents. She always underplayed her beautiful sketches and paintings which was a byproduct of her selfless and generous soul. She always put others first. Her kind spirit and contagious laugh will long be remembered by those who love her.
A Memorial Visitation for Carla will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 from 3-7 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. As it was Carla’s wish cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carla’s name can be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital and American Cancer Society.
