George MacZura IV
George MacZura IV, age 37, of Joliet, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday May 24th.
George was born February 4th, 1986 to George and Marie (nee Plisich) MacZura Jr. in Joliet, IL, where he grew up and spent his entire life. He attended Holy Family Catholic School, and graduated with the class of 2004 from Joliet Catholic Academy. George went on to attend Joliet Junior College to pursue a degree in welding. George will be remembered fondly as being kind-hearted and silly. He had a big smile and encouraged others to not take life too seriously. George was the type of man to always help others, no matter the cost. He loved his girls to no end and made so many memories for them to hold on to.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Christine McDonnell; cherished daughter Grace; his niece Serena, who loved George as a dad; his loving parents, George Jr. and Marie MacZura; his brother Raymond MacZura; his father and mother in-law, Brian and Maureen Carey; grandma, Mae McDonnell; sister-in-law, Maggi (Anthony) Voss; brother-in-law, Brian Carey; proud uncle of Tyler Carey and Aaron and Katie Voss. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive. George will also be missed by his canine best friend, Jackson.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George Sr. and Mary MacZura; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Alvera Plisich; aunt (and substitute grandmother) Virginia Cassani; uncles, Larry MacZura, Jim MacZura, and John MacZura. George is also preceded in death by members of his wife, Christine’s family, including grandma, Judy Hatch; aunt, Suzanne McDonnell; cousin, Abbey McDonnell. He is also preceded in death by a few friends who touched George’s life and were also taken too soon. George is now reunited in heaven with his two unborn babies.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Monday, June 5, 2023, from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, to Holy Family Parish, 600 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Cemetery at the corner of Caton Farm Rd. and Oakland Ave., Crest Hill, IL. All friends and relatives are invited to join the family in remembering George on Sunday for visitation from 3:00-7:00p.m. at the funeral home.
