Nicholas P. “Nick” Egizio
Age 74, of Channahon, IL, passed from this life Thursday May 25, 2023 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. Nick was born September 10, 1948 to the late Ann (nee DiGiovanni) and Pasquale Egizio in Joliet, IL where he was raised and educated, a graduate of Joliet Central High School.
In 1971 he married Christina M. Alberico at the Church of St. Anthony in Joliet.
In addition to Chris, his beloved wife of 52 years, he is also survived by his devoted daughters, Julieann (Brian) Bell and Jennifer (Adam) Ciesielski; dearest grandchildren, John “Jack”, Aidan and Brett; Alexandria and Katelyn; brother, James (Libby) Egizio and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Egizio. Nick will also be missed by his brothers-in-law, Anthony (Janice) and Frankie Alberico and his many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Antoinette Egizio; two brothers, Pasquale Egizio and Angelo (the late Vicki) Egizio as well as his mother and father-in-law, Ida and Peppino Alberico; brothers-in-law, Luciano (the late Shirley) Alberico and Johnny Alberico; niece, Leslie Egizio; nephew, Tommy Egizio. and his great-niece, Mya Tinajero.
Nick was a retired Ironworker from Local 444. He could often be found troubleshooting and diagnosing HVAC, plumbing or just about any mechanical problems associated with home repair and improvement. He never shied away from offering sound advice and a helping hand. He lived his life the same way as a genuine friend, who always made time for anyone who needed a little encouragement, or a laugh to lighten their burden.
Nick was a member of the Illinois Army National Guard, the Loyal Order of Moose, Joliet Lodge #300 and the Italian American Cultural Society.
He will be long remembered as a wonderful family man who felt blessed by the good Lord to have been granted the time to watch his grandchildren become young adults on their way to following their individual paths in life.
Nick’s visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Monday June 5, 2023 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. His funeral will begin with prayers at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday June 6, 2023 at the funeral home with his Mass of Christian Burial to follow at the Church of St. Anthony at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
