Obituary of Kymberly Kai Jimenez
Kymberly Kai Jimenez, age 51, of Joliet, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, from heart disease which she had struggled with for many years.
Born May 1, 1972 in Joliet, she was the daughter of Joseph J. and Sharon D. (Van Dyke) Jimenez, Sr., and was a graduate of Joliet Central High School. During her career, she worked for Nicor, Gallagher Asphalt and P. T. Ferro, but cherished most the years she was able to spend as a homemaker taking care of her children and grandchildren.
Kym was the last of five children and grew up knowing she was loved and wanted. Her life was happy and fun, and was made more wonderful with the birth of her children who were her everything. With the addition of six precious grandchildren, her life became even more amazing and she cherished being their “Gumma”. Warm and outgoing, she would help anyone in need and she treated no one like a stranger. She also loved cooking and music.
Hearing her sweet voice and joining her for coffee and “something sweet” will be among the many things her loving daughters will miss. She was the fierce protector of her family, did without to provide for her children and grandchildren, will be remembered for her unselfishness and generosity which continued following her passing by becoming a tissue donor to give others the gift of life.
She is survived by her loving children, Alyssya Jimenez, Breahna Jimenez, and Stephanie Jimenez, all of Joliet; six adoring grandchildren, Joseph John, Bella, Andrew, Eddie, Noel and Olivia; her father, Joseph Jimenez, Sr. of Joliet; her brother and sisters, Valerie (the late Donald) Ardaugh, Joseph (Becky) Jimenez, Jr., Lisa Layfield, and Carrie Lynn (John) Thompson; and many nieces and nephews. Kymberly was also “Uncle Kymi” to many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sharon Jimenez (2020); and one nephew.
Visitation for Kymberly Jimenez will be held Monday, June 12, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, IL 60431. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery will be private.
