John P. Kinsella
John P. Kinsella died Friday, June 9, 2023 as the result of a heart attack.
John was born April 8, 1953 to John (Jack) and Betty (Steffes) Kinsella in Joliet, IL. He attended Minooka schools graduating from Minooka Community High School in 1971. He attended University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was a member of Delta Phi Fraternity. He completed a degree in Agricultural Management. On June 26, 1976 he married Carolyn Fitzer. For the first 10 years of their marriage they lived and farmed in southwest Wisconsin near Woodman. In 1986 they moved to Newark, IL. and then to Seneca, IL in 2000. John continued to farm and worked as a carpenter with Local 916, now Local 174. John retired as a carpenter but continued to farm.
He is the beloved husband of 47 years to Carolyn; loving father of Mike (Kristin) Kinsella of Elburn, IL, Kathleen (Victor) Rexroade of Phoenix, AZ and Colleen Kinsella (fiance Matthew Grushkin) of Ft. Worth, TX; proud and devoted grandpa of Sadie, Matthew and Harper Kinsella; Caleb, Max, Helen and Penelope Rexroade; fond brother of Bruce (Lisa) Kinsella, Steven (Kris) Kinsella and sister-in-law, Debra Jo Kinsella; dear son-in-law of Jean Fitzer and cherished uncle of several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Robert Fitzer; his son Matthew Kinsella and two brothers, Jeff Kinsella and Ken Kinsella.
He thoroughly enjoyed farming and had farmed throughout his life in LaSalle, Grundy, Kendall and Will County in Illinois as well as southwest Wisconsin when he was younger. Although farming was perhaps his passion, nothing could compare to how he felt about his family.
Visitation for John Kinsella will be Monday, June 12, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 1201 W. Rt. 6 (at Deerpath Drive) Morris. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Minooka where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
