Obituary of Raymond F. Rock

Raymond F. Rock, age 86, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Lightways Hospice, with his loving family by his side, uttering his famous last words “G*% Damnit”.   He is now mowing his way to Heaven.  Raymond was a lifelong resident of Rockdale, where he was a police officer before his career with Alexander Lumber Company in Joliet, where he retired after 30 dedicated years. He was a proud United States Army Veteran.

Raymond loved to watch harness races and cheer on his favorite horse. His favorite way to spend his time was cutting the grass.

Raymond is the loving father of Dianna (Rock) Hischier, Jeni Rock, and James (Kimberly) Rock; grandfather “Kook” to Joshua (Kortney Lawton) Hischier, Trevor Hicks, Lucas Deane, Allison and Taylor Rock; great-grandson, Noah Deane; caretakers, Laquita, Shari Rachel and Mona; and special friend, Shirley. Raymond was also a loving Papa “Kook” to his fur grandbabies, Theodore, Middy and Chloe.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Frances Rock; brother, James Rock; sister, Norma (Rock) Dougherty; and numerous cousins.

The family of Raymond F. Rock would like to give a special thank you to Lightways hospice and its team, Tom, Shelby, Stacey and Shaunte. They would also like to give a huge thank you to Melody (Bryan) Dodge, Seth and Samantha Dodge, Roy Allen, Tabitha Kwasigroch and his barber, Robert, for all that you did!

All family and friends are invited to meet at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m.  Full military honors will be held under the auspices of the United States Army.  As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following services.
