Lillian M. Hinds
(nee Leis)
Age 87. Passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Provena Villa Franciscan Nursing Home.
She was born May 1, 1923 to the late Albert and Elizabeth Leis in Streator, IL. where she was raised, attending Streator schools. On January 31, 1942, she married Noble Hinds in the Leis home, built by her father. Lillian and Noble resided in Joliet since 1976 and were former Reddick, IL. residents.
Survived by her son Jim (Susan) Hinds of Joliet; daughter Kitty (Mike) Bossert of Kankakee; grandchildren, Carole Hinds, Jay (Karen) Hinds, Kerri Hinds and Richard (Nicole) Bossert. Proud great grandmother of Samantha, Brett, Noah, Emma, Jackson and Avery. Also survived by two sisters, Gladys (Woodrow) Harris and Delores Hilton both of California; brother-in-law Louis Kerestes of Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband Noble in 1995; her parents and one sister Eleanore Kerestes.
Lillian was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was an active volunteer and also a member of the Ladies Aid, Bible group and the Prayer chain. Other volunteer efforts included the Crisis Line and Joliet Area Community Hospice. While raising her family, she was a brownie leader and active in the PTA.
She was an avid reader who enjoyed cooking and playing the piano.
Funeral services for Lillian M. Hinds will be held on Monday September 20, 2010 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Joliet, where she will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until services begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to St. Peter Lutheran Church or the Crisis Line would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 2-5 p.m. at:
