Obituary of Donald Hirsch
Donald Walter Hirsch
Age 72. Passed away Monday, July 2, 2007 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born in Joliet and a lifelong Joliet area resident. A graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1953, and St. John's Catholic Grade School. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he was stationed in Okinawa (1957-58) and Kirkland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, NM (1960). Retired from ComEd/Exelon after 30 years of service. Member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #300, and other organizations. His hobbies included his love of music, fishing and westerns.
Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Violet (Skiles) Hirsch; his sister, Lorraine (late Robert "Bing") Gladders; his brother, Harold Hirsch (3 years old); and brothers-in-law, Arthur Gallegos and Carlos Gallegos.
Survived by his loving wife, Margarita "Margie" (Gallegos) Hirsch of Joliet; three children, Loretta Slaboszewski of Lockport, Donna Hirsch of Joliet, and Raymond Hirsch of Merritt Island, FL; one grandson, Mike Slaboszewski of Lockport; two sisters, Clarita "Tootsie" (John) Vargo of Shorewood, and Dorothy "Bubs" (James) Jenkins of Channahon; and sisters-in law, Lita (Louis) Mingo of Albuquerque, NM, Cecelia Gallegos of Las Vegas, NM and Clara (Joe) Gallegos-Patron of Edgewood, NM. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Donald Walter Hirsch will be Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park where military honors will be accorded.
