Obituary of Norman LaVern McBride, Jr.
Sgt. Norman L. McBride, Jr., age 66, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. Norman was born in Cairo, IL on December 14, 1956, to the late Norman L., Sr. and Shirley McBride. He served his country honorably in the United States Army for over 18 years. After leaving the Army, Norman went on to work in trucking, most recently with Triple G Enterprises. Norman married Po Chu in Korea, and most recently celebrated 36 years of marriage. He enjoyed 70s music and movies, particularly sci-fi. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Norman is survived by his loving wife, Po McBride; his sons, Norman L. (Jennifer) McBride, III and Raymond W. McBride; his grandson, Norman L. McBride IV; his brothers, Gilbert McBride and Lonnie McBride; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Vicky Boyd and Kimberly Couch; and brother Mickey McBride.
All friends and relatives are invited to gather and celebrate Norman’s life on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet. Interment to follow with full military honors conducted by the United States Army at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
