Marie Hirsch
(nee Gorshe)
Age 100, of Joliet, passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home on Monday, September 21, 2009. Born in Ely, MN on January 24, 1909 to the late Matthew and Agnes (nee Skerbic) Gorshe.
Loving wife of the late Alfred (1963); beloved mother of the late James (late Jean) Hirsch, Sr. Jacqueline Hirsch, O.S.F., Robert (Linda) Hirsch, and Rita (James) Kubalewski; dearest grandmother of Theresa (James) Lang, Linda Stewart (Ed Fitzgerald), Joseph Hirsch; Lawrence Hirsch, Gary Hirsch, Kathryn (John) Hartwig; Kimberly (Bill) Albert, Susan (Chris) Checca, Mary (Matt) Webber, Kathleen (Jim) McCormick, and Thomas (Julie) Kubalewski. Marie was a loving great-grandmother of many grandchildren and a proud great-great-grandmother of two. Also surviving are a brother and three sisters, Frank Shega; Fran Ausec, Anne Bukovich and Molly Fraboni; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings, Agnes Zobel, Matt Gorshe and John Shega.
Mrs. Hirsch was a devoted nurses aide who was formerly employed at St. Joseph Hospital, the College of St. Francis where she was also a house mother, and the former Imperial Nursing Home. She was a long time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and their Mission Club, and the Sacred Heart League.
All friends and relatives are invited to meet Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Ave., Joliet from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 10:30 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. In lieu of flowers, Memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Friday, 3 - 8 p.m. at:
