Obituary of Mark Edward Lawrence
Mark Edward Lawrence, age 68, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Mark was born August 18, 1954, in Joliet to the late James and Rita Lawrence, and was a lifelong Joliet area resident. He was a graduate of Joliet Central High School, Class of ’72. Mark married Irma Camacho, the love of his life, in 1975, and they started their family together. He retired from TTX Railroad Transportation after 40 years of service. Mark spent his free time with his family and was a nature lover. He enjoyed fishing, camping, being on the water, and gardening. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. While his family grieves for him, they are comforted knowing his last act was being an organ and tissue donor through the Gift of Hope.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Irma (nee Camacho) Lawrence; his daughter, Stephanie (Phil) Jorstad and granddaughter Bailey Jorstad; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lawrence and grandchildren Mia and Jackson Lawrence and step-grandchildren Corrine, Collin, and Zachary; his sister, Virginia George; his brother, Greg (Trudy) Lawrence; sister-in-law, Dalia Mahoney-Tapella; brother-in-law, Samuel Camacho; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his dear son, Matthew Edward Lawrence, and his parents.
As it was Mark’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded and his family will have a celebration of his life privately.
