Obituary of Erwin Miklos Hess

Erwin Miklos Hess, age 84, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the Lightways Hospice Facility in Joliet. Erwin was born in Budapest, Hungary, on August 19, 1938, and was the son of the late Ervin Anton and Magdi (Brezovszky) Hess.  He immigrated to the United States in 1956, settling in Chicago. Erwin was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. He earned his Associates degree and went on to become Vice President and General Manager for the Twin Town Division of Green Bay Packaging.

Erwin is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sigrun “Siggy” Hedi (Chudziak) Hess; his son, Robert (Kimberly) Hess and their son Alexander; two more grandchildren of his late son Ervin Gregory, Hilary (Hess) Christoph, and Eric Hess and his wife Beth; Ervin Gregory’s widow, Gerri (McCall) Hess; numerous nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews and great-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Egon Thomas Hess; and one son, Ervin Gregory Hess.

As it was Erwin’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Justice, IL, where he will receive full Military Honors conducted by the United States Army.
