Joseph R. Hischier
Age 99. Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his family by his side. Born in Joliet on April 7, 1911 to the late Frank and Anna (nee Kinnet) Hischier, he was a lifetime resident. Retired from Simon Box in 1970, where he was employed since the age of 16. Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #377; former member of the Northwest Club and the former Navy Club. Joseph was very involved in building soap box cars and entering them in races, he also enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and fishing at Eagle River in Wisconsin.
Survived by his four sons, Daniel (Lynn) Hischier, James (Darlyne) Hischier, Joseph (Mary) Hischier and Paul (June) Hischier; grandpa of Laura (Don) Maier, Jeff (Pam) Hischier, Kurt (Jennifer) Hischier, Susan (James) Hornechak, Chris Krizmanic, Cindy Hischier, Craig (Laurie) Hischier, Brian (Diana) Hischier and Jill (late Mike) Williams; great-grandfather of 18 and great-great-grandfather of nine; his sister-in-law, Leona Britz and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Lillian F. (nee Goodson); parents; twin grandsons in infancy, two brothers, Henry (1979), and Robert "Bud" (2000) Hischier; and one sister in early childhood.
Funeral Services for Joseph R. Hischier will be Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. John Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Monday 4-8 p.m. at:
