Obituary of Marcia Olson-Chickarello

Age 90, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet. 

She was born in Joliet, IL on May 21, 1933, to the late Tolive and Ethel (nee McCluckie) Gunderson.  Marcia graduated from Joliet Township High School class of 1951 and went on to work for Caterpillar Tractor.  In 1954 she married the love of her life, Kenneth C. Olson, whom she met while working at Caterpillar.  After marrying Ken, Marcia embraced her life as a homemaker, devoting years to caring for her husband and raising their four children.  Marcia returned to the workforce working as a retail sales manager. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and playing crossword puzzles in her free time.  She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Denver Broncos fan.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her more joy than anything else.

Marcia is survived by her children, Lori (Michael) Chick, Jodine (Nathan) Osborne, Brian (Tammy) Olson, and Kendra (Duane) Gronwold; her grandchildren, Heather (Bradley) Meade, Danielle (Joseph) Higgenbotham, Kenn (Melissa) Mathis, Erica (Ryan) Mork, Joshua Mathis, Jarrad Mathis, Tressa  (Dan) Webster, Christina (Jon) Rosa, and Christopher (Ashley) Rosa; her great-grandchildren, Andrew, Austin, Madison, Henry, William, Bettie, Devon, Tristen, Rhyse, Lachlan, Coranelle, Sheldon, Dodge, and Caden; and her beloved Shih Tzu, Bella.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth C. Olson; her second husband, Anthony Chickarello; her parents; and her brother Darwin Gunderson.

Memorials in her name to Lightways Hospice would be appreciated. 

As it was Marcia’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded.  Private family services will be held.
