Obituary of Ronald Sheldon Cohen

Age 78, of Apache Junction, Arizona and formerly of the Braidwood/Joliet, Illinois area, passed away Monday August 15, 2023.  He was born in Manhattan, New York May 8, 1945, to the late Minyon (Rast) and Nathan Cohen.  Ronald was raised in the Manhattan/Long Island area of New York. He and his family also resided a short time in Arkansas while his father was stationed at an Air Force base there.

Ron himself was a proud Veteran of the United States Army.

He is the beloved husband of 49 years to Belle Anne (Minkus) Cohen; loving father of Leonard Cohen and Amy Cohen (John Marshall); proud and devoted grandfather of Emalee (Matt Rachke), Joshua (Emily Yost), Jacob, Nathan and Matthew; dear brother of Hadley (Melinda) Cohen and Karen Monroe; fond uncle of several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Ronald was employed in sales throughout his life, beginning with Clairol and culminating his career with Schwann’s Ice Cream.

He will long be remembered for his outgoing personality and his jovial, kind nature.

Funeral services for Ronald Cohen will be Monday August 21, 2023, at the Joliet Jewish Congregation 250 N. Midland Avenue (at Campbell St) Joliet where all can gather from 9:00 a.m. until services begin at 9:30 a.m.  Interment with honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
