Obituary of Ronald K. Franz
Ronald K. Franz
Ronald K. Franz, age 68, passed away with his loving family by his side on Monday, September 4, 2023, at the Morris Hospital. Ron was born in Hamburg, Germany on April 28, 1955, to the late Horst and Renate Franz, and immigrated to the United States when he was 3 years old. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. After his service, Ron worked as a Dry Wall Finisher, and was a proud member of Union PDC 30, Local 97. After retirement, he found great joy working at the Home Depot in Joliet. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. Most importantly, Ron was a hard working family man with a sarcastic sense of humor, who above all, loved his family, his grandchildren, his dog, and most of all his loving wife.
Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janice Franz; his children, Ronald J. (Nicole) Franz, Nicholas H. (Rebecca Fahn) Franz, and Cristina (Tony Ciampa) Franz; his grandchildren Jaxson Franz, Courtney Snow, Victoria Franz, Lucas Franz, Mia Franz, Evan Ciampa, and Sam Ciampa; his brothers Volker Franz and Juergan Franz; his sister Renee Franz; and his faithful dog, Buddy.
He is preceded in death by his infant son, Steven Franz, his parents, and sisters Erika and Karin Franz.
All friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Ron’s life on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet, starting at 4:00 p.m. and concluding at 7:00 p.m., when he will be given full military honors by the United States Army. As it was his last wish, cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ron’s name can be made to your local animal shelter.
