Obituary of David Hojnacki
David T. Hojnacki
Age 70. Passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, with his family by his side. Born August 22, 1937 in Joliet, and a lifetime area resident.
Beloved husband of 47 years to Joyce (nee Pitcairn); loving father of Kristin (L. Scott) McCormick of Fishers, IN and Michael (Tonya) Hojnacki of New Lenox; proud grandpa of Shaelin McCormick; dear brother of Sherman Formento of Plainfield; fond brother-in-law of several, and dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was also blessed with many special friends who shared in his life.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Lillian (nee Adamowski) Formento.
He was a Fourth Degree Member of the Good Shepherd Council #5573 of the Knights of Columbus in Plainfield; where he held many offices including Grand Knight. David was also very active in the Plainfield Community; he chaired and served on many committees with the Plainfield School District and also was involved with many fund raising efforts.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taxidermy, building model cars, and lately cooking.
He served in the National Guard from 1959-1964; and was honored as Soldier of the Year in 1960. He retired from United Distillers of Plainfield after 38 years of service.
David T. Hojnacki will Lie in State on Saturday, January 5, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Plainfield. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church would be appreciated.
