Obituary of Jean M. Basil

Jean M. Basil (nee Ehrhardt), age 96, cherished wife of the late James A. Basil, Jr. She is survived by her beloved children, Barbara (Gary) Petrovich, of Lisle, IL, and Patricia (the late Richard) Johnson, of Newark, IL. She is the loving grandmother of Kristen (Jason) Hemmersbach, of Morris, IL, Erick (Natalie) Johnson, of Charlotte, NC and Brian (Cindy) Johnson, of Ft. Myers, FL and great-grandmother of Katie and Justin Hemmersbach, Lexi Johnson and Kesli, Kyleen and Kacen Johnson.

Jean was born in Chicago in 1927 to the late Grace (Tivy) and Earl Ehrhardt. She moved to Morris in 1971 when her husband opened the Reichhold Chemical Plant as the vice president and plant manager. In Morris, she was a former member of the Morris Hospital Auxiliary and the Morris Women's Club. Jean is the great-great-granddaughter of John McNellis and the great-granddaughter of Patrick Garrity, two of Morris' early residence.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jean M. Basil will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 E. Jackson St., Morris, where she will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Morris. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Immaculate Conception School would be appreciated.
