Ann E. Cardona, passed away at the age of 84, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at St. Joseph Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Ann was born in Detroit, MI, on October 29, 1938, the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Anastaja (nee Zjawiona) Kowalczyk.
Ann liked to stay active. She enjoyed taking road trips with the grandchildren, painting, listening to country music, classical music and opera music, and she enjoyed a variety of ethnic foods. Christmas was her favorite Holiday. She loved everything about the season; from the Hallmark movies to seeing the snow on the ground.
Ann is survived by her children, Victor (Blanca) Bryand, Barbara (the late Jose M. Sr.) Reyes, Samantha (Cheryl) Bryand, Jose (the late Jose Novoa) Bryand, III, Juan Cardona, Jr., Jose L. Cardona, and Julia (Walter) White; grandchildren, Jose M. Reyes, Jr., Christine E. Orona, Cecylia M. Rivera, Alfonso Reyes, Daniel Reyes, Pedro Orona, Elizabeth Genchi, Elliot V. Bryand, Matthew O'Donnell, Mary Neubauer, Jr. White, Justin Cardona, and Jeremy Cardona, Katrina Camacho; 25 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Fred Kowalczyk. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She is preceded by her husband, Juan E. Cardona; son, Peter James Bryand; grandson, Jessie Cardona; three brothers, Hank, Stanislaw, and Johnny Kowalczyk; and one sister, Cecylia.
Funeral Services for Ann E. Cardona will be held at 11:00 a.m., on October 6, 2023, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd, (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery, Crest Hill. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m.
