Obituary of Juan Carlos Valdez
Juan Carlos “Charlie” Valdez, age 50, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 12, 2023 at home with his loving family by his side, following a courageous nine month battle with cancer.
Charlie was born June 10, 1973, in Chicago, and was a 1992 graduate of Roosevelt High School, Chicago. He worked as a delivery driver for Kennicott Brothers for 25 years.
A loving, devoted and wonderful husband, father and grandfather, Charlie cherished time spent with family. He was full of life, had a terrific sense of humor, and lived to make people laugh. Family gatherings with Charlie cooking on the grill will never be the same without him.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 31 years, Catalina “Cathy” Valdez; his loving children, Serena (Fiance Angel Diaz) Valdez, Elias (Marissa Thornburg) Valdez, and Joshua Valdez; two adoring grandchildren, Romeo and Kehlani Valdez; two brothers, Edwin Valdez and Hector Valdez, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Catalina Valdez, and his sister, Zoraida Valdez.
Visitation for Charlie Valdez will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 5:30 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Cremation rites will be accorded following services and interment will be private.
