Obituary of Erlinda Donners
Age 59, of Joliet, IL and formerly of Weatherford, OK passed from this life, unexpectedly, Wednesday morning, October 18, 2023.
She was born on January 28, 1964, in Lamesa, Texas to the late Maria and Gabriel Elizondo. Erlinda was raised and educated in Weatherford. It was near Weatherford where Erlinda was first spotted by Kent, while he was assisting with building a stage at a concert venue, and he knew at that moment, she was for him.
In addition to Kent, her husband of 38 years, Erlinda is also survived by her sons and daughter, Chris (Melissa Wisniewski) Donners, Kenneth (Kaitlyn) Donners, Michael (Jennifer Johnson) Donners and Kimberly (Robert) Fitzgerald; four grandchildren, Anton, Danny, Logan and Serenity; as well as her siblings and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Jonathan and infant granddaughter, Harmony.
Erlinda worked tirelessly for many years for companies such as Ajax Cleaners, Bissell and Walmart. She will be remembered by many as a character who would tell it like it is, unfiltered. Beware if you were looking for Erlinda’s opinion. Most would agree, her vocabulary and driving maneuvers could be described as colorful.
In her free time, Erlinda would enjoy joining her husband at concerts and from time to time, cozying up to a slot machine. She seemed to have streaks of luck, especially when participating in football pools, even though her knowledge of football was limited. Aside from the above, her most favorite moments were spent with her beloved family.
Visitation for Erlinda Donners will be Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 2-6 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home at 3200 Black Rd (at Essington Rd) Joliet. A prayer service to conclude the evening will begin at 6 p.m. with Rev. Leona Tichenor officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
