Dr. Lawrence E. Sadowski
Dr. Lawrence E. Sadowski, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Lightways Hospice. Lawrence was born in Chicago, IL on September 23rd, 1946, the son of the late Anthony and Vera (nee Norwich) Sadowski.
Dr. Sadowski graduated Cum Laude from Loyola University in Chicago and with honors from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. He then became a member of the National Medical Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha. He did his medical internship at Evanston Hospital in Evanston, IL and then completed his Ophthalmology training at Loyola-Hines in Maywood, IL. During this time he served as a Captain in the United States Air Force Reserves. He was a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Illinois Association of Ophthalmology, and ASCRS. He was also affiliated with Provena St. Joseph Medical Center and Amsurg Surgery Center.
Dr. Sadowski lived in the Joliet/Shorewood area since establishing his private ophthalmology practice in 1976. He retired after over 40 rewarding years of serving the community and helping patients improve their vision. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Dr. Sadowski is survived by his wife, Bernadette (nee West) Sadowski; children, Jennifer (Alex) Beck and Kevin (Holly) Sadowski; four grandchildren, Eva and Max Beck, and Madelyn and Nolan Sadowski; nephew and niece, Carey and Cherie Sadowski; as well as seven step-grandchildren, Kyle, Danny, Katie, Rese, Lila, Henry, and Colton Symons.
He is preceded by his parents; and his brother, Dr. Anthony J. Sadowski.
Visitation for Dr. Lawrence E. Sadowski will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park II in Joliet.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431, in his name.
