Obituary of Frances Hope Urrutia

Frances Hope Patterson Urrutia of Joliet, IL, passed away on the afternoon of November 1, 2023.

Frances was born in Aurora, IL on September 8, 1946. Due to the death of her mother at an early age, Frances attended school in Hinkley, IL until the death of her grandmother. She moved to Los Angeles to live with an Aunt and Uncle until her senior year in High school, were she returned to Joliet to complete High School at Joliet Central.

On January 26, 1964, Frances married Ronald McCormick; they separated, but stayed married for over 10 years. They had 2 children, Dalmus and Janice.

In the late 70s, Frances decided to make a move to California for a better life. She worked at various electronic companies and nursing homes. She met, fell in love with Steven Urrutia and married him in 1980. They stayed together for over 10 years.

Frances returned to Joliet and due to an illness, retired early.

Frances is survived by her son Dalmus and daughter Janice (William); Sister Tedene Williams, and Ward (Carol) Patterson; granddaughters Jessica Brown, Whitney Burrus, Breanna and Vanessa McCormick; grandsons Bryan Burrus and Xachary McCormick; three great-granddaughters, Morgan, Alexis, and Ealyn; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Genevieve Patterson; her sisters Marsha Johnson, Janice Patterson and Paulette Voss; and a brother Michael Patterson.

Visitation for Frances Urrutia will be held at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. According to Frances’ wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be held privately.
