Obituary of Rosita J. Jarquin

Rosita J. Jarquin, age 84, of Joliet, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully, Friday, November 17, 2023, at Rock Run Place, in Joliet.

She was born on February 8, 1939, in Decatur, IL to the late Glenn and Virginia Utt. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University. She worked for Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago for over 20 years in information technology.

Rosita had an adventurous spirit that inspired her to parasail, roller-skate and, in her younger years, Latin dance. She equally enjoyed quiet time at home playing scrabble and card games with family. She loved to decorate her home, work in her garden and cook delicious meals, creating a welcoming place for the family to get together. Rosita had a big heart and was always willing to help.

Rosita is survived by her children, Melody R. Ponce and Lawrence P. (Barbara) Ponce; grandchildren, Lauren R. (Juan) Silva and Leanore R. Ponce, Jessica Ponce and Crystal (Sigfried) Oyales, and Nicholas H. Rouse; great-grandchildren, Sofia Solis, Vanessa Moreno, Daniel Moreno, Nathan Moreno, Nora Ponce, Madison Rouse; great-great-grandson, Dominic; many dear friends also survive.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Javier G. Jarquin.

As it was Rosita’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held.
