Obituary of Kenneth A. Bolte
Kenneth A. “Kenny” Bolte, age 63, a lifelong Minooka area resident and cherished member of the community, passed away suddenly on November 15, 2023 from injuries sustained in an auto accident in rural Seward Township.
Born January 28, 1960 in Joliet, he was the son of the late Donald and Ellen (Hogrefe) Bolte, and a graduate of Minooka High School with the Class of 1978. In addition to farming, he was a proud member of Teamsters Local #179 where he was a truck driver and spent many years, and made many lasting friendships, while working for “D” Construction.
Ken was generous with his time and talents, serving as a volunteer with the Minooka Fire Protection District over 20 years, and also as an active member and Past President of the Minooka Lions Club.
An avid outdoorsman, time spent driving around looking at the crops, or sitting at the picnic table enjoying a beer was time well spent. He also cherished time spent at his vacation spot in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, where many happy winter and summer memories were made snowmobiling and UTV riding with family and friends.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and “papa” who was known for breaking all the rules when it came to his precious grandchildren. Everyone knew Kenny, and his friends were his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, and no one will ever take his place in our hearts.
He is survived by his beloved wife and “Honey” of 36 years, Mary Sue (Offermann) Bolte of Minooka; two devoted sons, Ryan (Megan) Bolte of Minooka, and Zach (Delaney) Bolte of Channahon; five adoring grandchildren, Ryleigh and Piper Thomas, Raelin Bolte, and twins, Gatlin and Sage Bolte; one sister, Sherry (Ron) Schmidt of Minooka; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Kenneth Bolte will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. A Fire Department tribute and prayer will take place at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ken’s name can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
