Obituary of Roberto Verdin

Jesus Roberto Verdin, age 95, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Lightways Hospice, with his loving family by his side.

Born April 10, 1928 in Tacna, AZ, grew up in San Francisco Del Rincon, GTO, Mexico, before moving to Joliet in the 1960’s.  Roberto was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs and soccer.

Roberto is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Maria Luisa (Rios) Verdin; his children, Silvia (Larry) Becker, Rosie Verdin, Yolanda (Steve) Real, Robert (Tracy) Verdin and Veronica (Mario) Salazar; his grandchildren, Jaime Becker, Justin (Ana) Becker, Claudia (Mark Miller) Verdin, Adrienne Real, Aaron Real, Erica (Robert) Lucio, Jacob Salazar, Natalie (Pryce) McDaniel and Autumn Berglund; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elisa Murillo. Also survive by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Petra (Santillanes) Verdin; his children, Nora Berglund, Petra Verdin and Mario Verdin; and five brothers and sisters.

Visitation for Roberto Verdin will be held Sunday, November 26, 2023 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.  Funeral services will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 at 9:00 a.m., from the funeral home, to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Cremation rites will be accorded following services and interment in Woodlawn Memorial Park will be at a later date.
