Nicholas J. Honiotes
"Brother Nick"
Age 87. Passed away peacefully Monday, October 29, 2007 at Lakewood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Joliet and a lifelong Joliet area resident. A WWII U.S. Army Veteran. Former co-owner and operator of Honiotes Brothers Food Mart. A lifelong member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, the Ahepa Society and the Mykonos Society. Member of the American Legion Harwood Post #5 and the Old Timers Baseball Association.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Eleni (nee Griparis) Honiotes; six brothers, John, Andy, Jim, Pete, Bill and George Honiotes.
Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth (nee Calamaras) Honiotes of Joliet; two daughters, Cathy (Steve) Rittof of Channahon and Ellen (Bruce) Caponi of Joliet; three sons, John Nick (Debbie) of Morris, Peter Nick (Michelle) of Joliet and Nick Nick (Carol) Honiotes of Channahon; his beloved sister, Ann (late George) Calamaras of Oswego; 13 grandchildren, David (Shannon) Kilgos, Nicole (Jeff) Kilgos, Heather Honiotes, Stephanie (Mike) Vangelisti, Nicholas J. (Kristy) Honiotes, Courtney Honiotes, Nicholas P. Honiotes, Kilynn Honiotes, Nicholas S. Honiotes, Thaila Hopkins, Alice McGlaughlin, Steve Rittof, and Mathew (Erin) Rittof; great-grandchildren, Angel Caponi-Schumaker, Kylie Honiotes, Patrick Spears, Zane Spears, Jesse Spears, Amanda Milton, Zachary McGlaughlin, Joseph McGlaughlin and Benjamin Rittof; one great-great-grandchild, Eric Molten; numerous sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
Funeral Services for Nicholas J. Honiotes will be Friday, November 2, 2007 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for services at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials in his name to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Endowment Fund or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday 2-8 p.m. with Trisagion Services at 7:00 p.m. at:
