Sheila Veronica Devine Aguado
Born May 20, 1931, At rest December 4, 2023. An amazing “29” years young!
Sheila is survived by her daughter Maryelizabeth Aguado and son, Daniel Aguado; and she will be greeted by her late daughter Catherine and husband George Aguado, amongst other family members who passed before her.
Sheila lived with her daughter and grandchildren; Rhiannon, Jenocy, George, Jaycek, PJ, and dog “Kinzie” in Plainfield, IL. She was blessed to be “Nanny” to more than 12 grandchildren, over 8 great-grandchildren, and foster grandma to many, many more.
Sheila was the youngest of 8 children of Mary Galloway and James Devine. She grew up during World War II in England, and for a short period of time was evacuated to Wales to get out from under the bombings. With the support of her family, Sheila became a midwife and a school nurse, learning her trade on the streets of Birkenhead and Liverpool during the 1950s. Sheila made her way to Chicago in 1960 during the nursing shortage. It was here where she met her husband George and lived for almost 20 years while raising her family. They returned to live in England for period of time before retiring to Phoenix, AZ with her husband and adult children. Sheila was a geriatric nurse for many years bringing comfort to those around her as well as their families. Sheila made her life’s passion about nursing and the care of others. Anyone who knew her called her the “sweetest lady”. She was very loved by all who knew her and will be missed by many.
Private family services will be held, and Sheila will be laid to rest next to her late husband George at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ. Arrangements entrusted to the Fred C.
