Obituary of William "Bill" Moran
William (Bill) Moran, age 92, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Alden Estates of Shorewood from congestive heart failure.
Bill was born on November 23, 1931 to Ambrose and Mary (nee. Larkin) Moran, members of Will County families that have spanned many generations here. Bill graduated from St. Patrick Grade School and Joliet Catholic High School, class of 1949. After a tour of duty with the US Army, stationed in Germany, he began to work for Material Service Company, retiring from there in 1993. His later years were involved in farming, a life he had always loved and working with Troy Township Road Department.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Norma (nee Lundstrom) and children, Barbara, Sandy and Michael Moran. He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister, Anna Marie (Henry) Stratz, and brothers, Raymond (Denise) and Gerald (Carolyn) Moran.
He is survived by sisters, Kathleen (the late Wayne) Fawley of Ocala, FL., and Evelyn (Dale) Onderisin of Joliet, sister-in-law, Marge (the late Gerald) Moran of Granger, IN and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends, especially Vallarie Huntley and Dan Ward who have been a very special part of his recent life.
The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Alden Estates of Shorewood for their outstanding care and concern.
Visitation for William (Bill) Moran will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 at 9:00 a.m., from the funeral home to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 303 W. St, Mary's Street, Minooka, IL, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Minooka.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s name to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 would be appreciated.
