Obituary of Carol J. Karner
Carol Jean Karner, was called home to the Lord on December 10, 2023, at the age of 65, after fighting a long battle with cancer. She was born on August 2, 1958 in Chicago, IL. She lived her life with strong base in the Lutheran faith, and dedicated much of her time to Bethel Lutheran Church, Chicago, until its closing.
Carol is survived by her brother, Scott (Linda) Karner; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Rosemary. She is also survived by 17 nieces and nephews; as well as 12 great nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and LaVergne Karner; and her siblings Dale, Ralph, and Glen Karner.
“Keep calm and call Aunt Carol” was a general and well known rule between the nieces and nephews, especially if it was a question for the kitchen. Known as the cake wizard, Carol was a talented baker, cake decorator and her snickers cake was legendary.
She had a love of Christmas which she shared in yearly traditions like a family dice game, theme grab bags and caroling with her family that will be deeply missed.
A child at heart she always enjoyed the magic of Disney and shared that love with many of her nieces and nephews.
Carol Jean Karner was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
May you find peace in the arms of the Lord and loved ones who have gone before.
