Obituary of William C. Chiovatero, Sr.
William C. Chiovatero, Sr., age 79, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at his home in Minooka. Bill was born on August 15, 1944 in Joliet to the late Joseph and Bernice Chiovatero, and was a longtime area resident. He worked for many years as a pipefitter, belonging to the Local #422 and #597. On November 9, 1963, Bill married Rita Seybert, and the two had most recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. In his free time, Bill enjoyed shooting at the range and was a member of the Illinois Rifle Association. He was also a member of the Joliet Moose Lodge. Bill was known for being an excellent craftsman. Whether it was carpentry, electrical or engine work, he was very skilled with his hands. Most importantly, he was a loving husband and devoted father and will be greatly missed by all.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Rita Chiovatero; his children, Jeanette (Paul) Rochnowski and William C. Chiovatero, Jr.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many good friends.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Anita Chiovatero; his parents; his brother, Robert Chiovatero; and sister, Donna McClintock.
Visitation for William C. Chiovatero, Sr. will be Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd.,Joliet. Funeral services will be the following morning, Thursday, January 4, 2024 starting at the funeral home chapel at 9:00 a.m. and processing to St. Mary Catholic Church in Minooka for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Minooka.
