Obituary of Ruben J. Martinez
Ruben J. Martinez, age 78, passed away January 3, 2024, at his home in Joliet, IL surrounded by his family. He was born May 26, 1945, in Mexico City, Mexico.
Ruben worked for St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet for 33 years as a maintenance supervisor. He retired from Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, IL. He could fix or make anything and loved to work with his hands. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching action, western, or biblical films. To know him was to love him. He was the ultimate family man and those close to him knew they could go to him for advice and guidance.
Ruben is survived by his three daughters, who were the apples of his eye, Elisa (Shane) Welsh, Diane Martinez, and Erica (Frankie Fasula, III) Martinez; adoring grandchildren, Ethan and Evan Welsh, Noah Martinez, and Koen Reinhold; dear brother, Frederico (Lourdes) Martinez; and dear sister, Lupe (Valente) Martinez. Many nieces, nephews, and dear friends also survive.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Maria De La Luz Jimenez Beserra; brothers, Raul and Javier Martinez; and sister, Rosa Martinez.
