Obituary of Allen Altgilbers
Allen Altgilbers, passed away at his home in Las Cruces, NM, on Monday, January 1, 2024. Allen was born in Humbolt County, Iowa on December 6, 1935, the son of the late Herman Leo and Florence (nee Madden) Altgilbers. Allen had retired from Stepan Chemical Company after many years of dedicated service.
Allen is survived by his four children, Mark Altgilbers, Theresa (Alan) Lake, Cindy (James) Scheall, and Tina (Gary) Snyder; nine grandchildren; and many beloved great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Trosky; his parents; five brothers, Melvin, Wally, Dennis, Tommy and Bobby Altgilbers; and the mother of his first wife.
Funeral Services for Allen Altgilbers will be held at 11:30 a.m., on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park where he will be laid to rest next to his late wife, Eileen M. Altgilbers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
