Obituary of Julia E. Latawiec
Julia E. Latawiec, age 66, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Julia was born in Chicago on April 25, 1957 to the late Charles and Elizabeth Weinrick. She grew up in Chicago and was a graduate of Hubbard High School, Class of 75. She worked for over 20 years as an office manager for David Rocco at Dental Care in Orland Park. On November 8, 1975, she married her high school sweetheart Lee L. Latawiec, the two have been like two peas in a pod and most recently celebrated 48 years of marriage.
Julia was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and an even bigger fan of Elvis. In her leisure time out, she liked to go to casinos and restaurants to play different slot machines. But when at home she would play rummy, and bunco, and watch her favorite soap, Days of Our Lives. She was known by her family as a tremendous cook and baker, and her Christmas cookies were looked forward to every year. But most importantly, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be greatly missed.
Julia is survived by her husband, Lee L. Latawiec; her children, Adam (Sherri) Latawiec, Anthony (Lisa) Latawiec, and Krystle (Michael) Lightner; her grandchildren, Caryn(Keith), Loren(Max), Craig, Kurtis(Savanna), Zachary, Paul, Caitlynn, Stephen, Summer, Trevor, Bradley, Christian, Robert, Paige, and Isabella; 12 great-grandchildren with another on the way; her brother, Thomas Weinrick; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friends Jim and Karen Wolske.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Charles Weinrick, Richard Malek, Robert Weinrick, and Phillip Weinrick.
