Roy Ardaugh

Obituary of Roy C. Ardaugh

Roy C.”Rick” Ardaugh, age 66, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the home of his daughter. Rick was born in Joliet on June 21, 1957, the son of Leonard and Sandra Ardaugh. He grew up in Joliet, and was a graduate of Joliet East High School, Class of 1975. Rick was a carpenter by trade, a proud member of Carpenter’s Local Union 174. On November 26, 1976, Rick married Lorna Bean, and the two celebrated 43 years of marriage before her passing in 2020. He was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan, and an avid fisherman, but most importantly, a loving father and grandfather.

Rick is survived by his daughter, Jillian (Jill) Ardaugh of Mokena; his two sons, Eric (Amber) Ardaugh of Joliet,  and Christopher (Jessica) Ardaugh of Channahon; his grandchildren, who knew him as Papa,  Samara,  Ryder, Dominic, Kayla, Andrew, Haley, Morgan, and Danielle; his parents, Leonard and Sandra Ardaugh; and his sister, Loretta Ardaugh.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorna Ardaugh; and sister, Marie Lapicki.

As it was his final wish, cremation rites have been accorded, and a Memorial Visitation for Rick will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 3-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet. The family asks everyone to honor Rick by dressing casually, and if possible wear Chicago Bears attire. Visitation will continue Friday morning, February 2, 2024, from 10-11 a.m., at which time we will depart for graveside services at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery, Crest Hill, where Rick will be laid to rest next to his late wife, Lorna.
